Slipping Away

Black hair, firm skin, good teeth
Dreams buried deep underneath

Useful uterus, a certain insouciance
Living at full pace, no search for balance

Crying at will, feeling unafraid
Golden days, charging out on crusades

Changing course at a whim
Obsessing about being slim

Laughing at middle-aged men
Ogling, eyeing, brushing men

Getting drunk late into the night
And not flinching at the morning light

All slipping away, far far away
At the end of the day’s play
